Not your momma's caramel corn

Is Garrett's the only reason I go into the city?  Definitely not.  But it is right up there near the very top!  The photo may not look like much but it is popcorn heaven.

Travel x 3

I've never been off this continent.  I've been all over the continental US, although perhaps not Texas.  I've been to Canada a number of times and once in Mexico.

Within the next 8 months I will have been to China, Bulgaria and Germany (Layover in Frankfort).  Beijing and Changchun, China.  Sofia and Tran, Bulgaria.  I'm suddenly on track to have been a world traveler before Halloween.

Freaks me out a little bit.

Am I nuts or what?!?

I've been accepted on both teams.  Which means I have to go to Bulgaria AND China this year.  I keep hearing the blood pumping through my ears.  What have I gotten myself into???

I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.  Seriously.  If I manage to accomplish this, it will only be through the work of the Spirit in me.  The three-in-one making me more than I could be without Father/Son/Spirit.

OMG.  Literally.

Twofer craziness

So yesterday while I was waiting for my interview with representatives of the Missions Committee, a man was chatting with me while he was figuring out where he was supposed to be.  Casually he mentioned that I should be going on the trip that he and his wife were leading.  Shortly after that, I found myself asking the Missions Pastor if it would be possible for me to apply for two trips.  He thought it was possible.  So sometime tomorrow I should find out if I will be going overseas not just once but twice in the next eight months!!!  The first time I've ever been abroad.  Not bad for a middle-aged chick, eh?

Most Indigenous

Yesterday on the radio, I heard the following introduction for a man who had moved with his family to a difficult place, in order to evangelize.  The announcer stated that he had moved to be near "the most indigenous people group in the world."   Hmmmm...

Cobblestone

I'm at a slightly trendy chain restaurant eating a salad and eavesdropping on my neighbors.  The approximately-10-year-old boy asked his mom what a cobblestone was (the name of the baked good they were sharing).  She thought for a second and explained that it was a cover.  "You know how some people have a cobblestone driveway?"  ---Argh!

Duh?

College graduates with degrees in higher-demand fields had lower unemployment rates upon graduation than other students.

This was an actual news item.  Journalism ain't what it used to be!

And one more thing...

My son thinks that, if on a four-lane road, me passing into the right lane to pass someone turning left (no turn lane) is "Rude".     Huh?  Rude???

You're kidding right? Right?

"Hey, Mom- I know it's 5:42 on Wednesday night, but I have a permission slip here that has to be turned in Friday morning - NOTARIZED and I need it during the day tomorrow.  Why do you look so upset?!?  Jeesh, I'm not the one who required the notary thing!"

Boomtown Rats had it wrong

While I certainly don't like Mondays, I find Sunday nights to be much harder.

Joel Osteen has a new book, Friday Everyday.  What a guy!  So close to the truth, but still so far.

Did you ever find yourself brushing your teeth too hard because you were in a hurry to get back to life?

How about this one?

What's a mother to do

My son.  There is nothing I can add, because I've had strangely colored hair back in the day too.

Lavender Mist

So a coworker lent me a book about enjoying and taking care of curly hair.  There was some good advice and for the most part, I enjoyed the book.  HOWEVER - there was included a recipe for a spray solution for curly hair.  The general idea is that curly hair is quite dry and you really should not wash it very often.  Other days you would freshen your curls with a spritz of something and the author suggested making a lavender mist.  You take a half gallon of water, bring to a boil and simmer, covered, for an hour.  Add five drops of essential lavender oil, stir and cool.  Fill spray bottles.

Why did the water have to boil for an hour???
