Leaving (sniff)

I just dropped my son off at his base.  He's doing his two weeks of AI.  I took some photos.  He pointed out that he was only going to be gone two weeks and I was taking more photos than when he left for six months of Basic.  I then admitted that back then I was too freaked out to take photos.  I also just realized that seeing him in uniform makes a difference too.  When I dropped him at the recruiter over a year ago, he was wearing a t-shirt and jeans.  This time he's in ACUs and at a not-on-any-map base with a bunch of other folks from his unit.  Who may one day depend on him for their lives.  He's excited about this trip because while the rest of the unit will be practicing shooting and whatnot, he will be working at the base clinic with the other rookie medic.  A chance for them to see real stuff and test their mettle.
